Chair Caning & Seat Weaving Supplies
Plastic Cane Webbing | |||||||||||||
Cane webbing is generally used in chair seats and backs where a groove has been routed in the frame. Cane webbing is also used for cabinet doors, speaker enclosures, vents, folding screens and much more. How to measure for the correct piece of webbing? It is best to measure the opening from groove to groove at the widest dimension in each direction, then add 2 inches to dimension when ordering. | |||||||||||||

Paper Cane Webbing |
|||||||||||||
Paper cane webbing is very porous and will take on water quickly - so soak in room temperature water for 5 minutes, remove and shake off the excess. It is also best to support the webbing with a cardboard piece placed in the panel for the paper cane to rest on while being installed to keep it from sagging and make it easier to fold into the groove straight. Applying a sanding sealer to the paper cane before finishing will make a proper color match easier using a varnish or urethane with the stain already added. Of course, keep some of the scrap to experiment on staining before hand. "Once you put it down you can't take it back". |
